Cancer is personal. It has touched every one of us – either directly or indirectly through our friends and loved ones. In Canada, cancer is the leading cause of death – 43% of Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and worldwide, cancer is responsible for 1 in 6 deaths.
At The Princess Margaret, we believe that collectively we have the power to change these statistics and create a world free from the fear of cancer.
Since opening its doors in 1958, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre has been lighting the way forward through discovery and has established itself as a global leader in cancer diagnostics, research and treatment. Our team of dedicated, world-leading experts treats over 200 types of cancer, including some of the rarest forms of the disease, and we are home to one of the world’s largest cancer clinical trials programs, constantly testing new ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer.
We are at a pivotal moment for cancer research and care. The combination of clinical innovation, a deeper understanding of cancer and the emergence of new technology has created an unprecedented opportunity to transform cancer outcomes for patients at The Princess Margaret and around the world.
We believe the greatest gains will come from focusing on three key areas:
Cancer early detection and prevention – using new approaches and technologies to catch cancer earlier when it can be treated most effectively.
Innovative Therapies – advancing new, more tailored therapies to improve outcomes and reduce side effects.
Comprehensive Cancer Care – supporting critical research and care in the mental, emotional, and social components of a cancer diagnosis and treatment, including for cancer caregivers.
Our fall lottery offers over 17,000 prizes including unique once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Your ticket to win one of these incredible prizes is also your chance to fuel new life-changing cancer breakthroughs and to provide hope to cancer patients everywhere.
On behalf of everyone at The Princess Margaret and the many cancer patients and their loved ones who will benefit from your support, thank you for helping us Carry The Fire for a world free from the fear of cancer.
Best,
Miyo
