DOES ALL THE MONEY FLOW THROUGH TO PRINCESS MARGARET CANCER CENTRE FROM THE LOTTERIES?

The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation receives the revenue from all lottery ticket purchases, and, after paying expenses, grants the remaining funds to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre to support live-saving cancer research.

The Princess Margaret lotteries are the largest source of private unrestricted cancer research funding in Canada. The funds raised help advance breakthrough cancer research and set new standards of care for patients at The Princess Margaret and globally. Proceeds also support world-leading initiatives in areas such as early detection, cancer mental health, cancer digital intelligence and clinical trials. All of the programs funded today will provide brighter tomorrows for cancer patients and their loved ones

The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation carefully examines the risk associated with running each lottery in support of their vision to help create a world free from the fear of cancer. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) provides oversight to all charitable lotteries and the Princess Margaret lotteries works closely with the AGCO to ensure all regulations are met. Additionally, under the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines, no tax receipt can be offered for lottery ticket purchases.
